The Assistant Director of Academic Services is responsible for overseeing federal, state and university compliance regulations for all financial aid programs. Supervises and trains, ensuring proper procedures are followed concerning data management, file maintenance and confidentiality, working with all facets of financial aid, assisting with the development of policies and procedures, assisting with reconciling federal and state funds and assisting with the preparation of reports required by internal departments and external agencies. The Assistant Director of Academic Services will oversee and manage a cohort of financial aid applicants and recipients by providing information and counsel to students and parents regarding eligibility for financial aid programs and the regulations that pertain to those programs. Responsibilities include packaging, awarding, monitoring and reporting. As a part of the Academic Services team, this individual will support and improve improve front desk operations and processes and provide guidance to support staff in the academic services office and other related departments.

POSITIONS, SUPERVISED OR DIRECTED (TITLES AND APPROXIMATE NUMBERS):
This position has direct supervision over 2 Administrative Coordinators and shares responsibility for supervision of work-study office workers
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS :
Internally, works with very closely with all academic departments, Student Affairs Office, and the University Tuition and Student Accounts Office. Externally, employee must communicate with, state agencies, Federal representatives.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's Degree required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
3 + years of financial aid administration experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
Strong computer skills particularly MS Window-based office applications.
Expertise preferred in the Ellucian Banner student financial aid system.
Knowledge of NSLDS functionality.
Familiarity with federal EDE computer systems.
Thorough knowledge of federal financial aid regulations.
Website management and strong communications presence highly desired
