General Summary: Works as an assistant to the Radiologic Technologist by performing clerical and non- technical patient care related duties and responsibilities.
Essential Job Function Demonstrates professional, efficient and courteous behavior at all times during personal and telephone contact with all patients, physicians, colleagues and visitors.
Provides medical imaging reports and other privileged health information to physicians and other healthcare providers on a need to know basis only.
Collates films and film jackets, utilizing the departmental filing process with 95% - 100% accuracy, as observed by manager.
Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient information at all times.
Demonstrates exceptional and professional customer relations behaviors at all times.
System Management - Ensures accurate data entry into RIS. Validates and reconciles information in RIS / OCS on daily basis. Optional Self-Eval Rating Final Rating
Enters patient information into RIS in a timely manner. Interviews patient and obtains necessary information according to department policy.
Revises patient data and incorrect orders in system on a continual basis as required.
Utilizes RIS to assure real time data accuracy, tracks films in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains knowledge and skills of RIS / OCS system, hospital network, and MSOffice applications.
Film / Image / Darkroom Management
Processes exposed radiographic film by removing film from holder, identifying film through the ID camera, reloads empty cassettes and returns equipment to appropriate storage area.
Performs quality control testing of the automatic film processor and adjusts settings as needed to ensure the films are properly developed.
Makes duplication / subtraction films as required using the duplicating equipment.
Cleans cassettes, screens and work area as required.
Patient Care Duties and Responsibilities
Performs safe transport of patients to and from the Medical Imaging department through proper care and handling.
Provides for patient needs, assisting personnel to change patients into appropriate gowns, assisting in moving patients onto exam tables, etc.
Monitors patients during their stay in Medical Imaging during periods when the technologist must leave the exam area.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Ability to read and communicate in the English language. High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous healthcare related experience preferred.
